Merchavim - the Institute for the Advancement of Shared Citizenship in Israel is seeking: Director of Resource Development -100% (starting Jan. 2021)
Founded in 1998, Merchavim – The Institute for the Advancement of Shared Citizenship in Israel, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diversity, inclusion, and greater fairness in classrooms, communities, and in Israeli society. Merchavim is respected as a pioneer in promoting better relations between all groups in Israel and has no political affiliation.
The Director, working closely with the Executive Director, will implement the organization’s five-year capacity-building plan, develop a fundraising strategy, increase the donor base within Israel and overseas while providing donor stewardship to existing donors, and carry out the development work needed to support Merchavim’s mission.
The candidate will identify with the organizational mission, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be highly motivated. This position is a full-time position. Offices in Lod. Future option for a combination of work-from-office, work-from-home. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, overseeing one team member, and work collaboratively with the social media/PR staff person.
Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Development of a fundraising strategy
Program development
Identifying new initiatives
Working on all aspects of the organization’s development program
Foundation research, grant writing, and reporting
Identifying, cultivating, and soliciting international donor prospects
Raising funds from foundations and local corporations
Coordinate solicitation and follow-up of donors
Develop and implement strategies to expand and diversify funding sources for the organization
Maintain systems for prospect identification and tracking; grants administration; proposal writing; and donor recognition
Contribute to social media activities and maintenance of the website
Oversee the upkeep of the computerized database of donors
Provide support for the British Friends of Merchavim
Requirements:
A passion for the vision and objectives of the organization
Ability to build, develop, and monitor projects
Experience with applications for EU – USAID an advantage
Experience working with Jewish Federations
Fluent English with the ability to read, write, and speak at a mother tongue level.
High-level Hebrew (speaking, interoffice emails, reading, etc.). Arabic fluency – an asset.
Proven experience, of at least three years, in resource development in the philanthropic sector, including the preparation of initial inquiries, full proposals, reporting, and budgets in English and maintaining ongoing relationships with donors.
Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills, ability to plan, prioritize and execute tasks professionally
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
Able to meet deadlines and willing to work unconventional hours when needed
Detail-oriented and committed to excellence
Creative, enthusiastic with a “can-do” attitude
Comfortable working in a digital environment, preference for a candidate with CRM experience (SalesForce) - mandatory.
Excellent multitasking and time management skills, working well independently and as a part of a team.
The position is 100%, at a salary rate equivalent to 12,000-14,000 NIS/month full-time salary, based on qualifications and experience.
